Last Thursday on 22nd October 2009, Microsoft finally commercially launched Windows 7 Operating System. Most of us PC users are usually running on either Windows XP (which is years old) or Windows Vista (which is painfully unsteady).
Being the tech geek that I am, along with some equally enthusiastic colleagues downloaded the Windows 7 beta to give it a try. Of course, we all moved to all subsequent updates and RC releases. I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed with this. Coupled with MS Office 2007, Windows 7 is a truly amazing OS. A huge improvement to Vista and finally something to replace my XP.

If you’d like to read a full review on Windows 7 and find out other information such as the history behind the development of the OS, user reviews, features of the new OS, press launch coverage and some pictures of the OS, CNet did an extremely detailed section here >> CNet’s Windows 7 section
In conjunction with the new launch of Windows 7, Japan’s Burger King even came up with their own marketing campaign, for the 7 patty Whopper.
No, I’m not kidding. Yes, Burger King in Japan release a 7 layer Whopper!!! The offer was given to the first 30 customers each day to purchase the Win 7 Whopper at ¥777, with the rest shelling out a cool ¥1,450 ($17.10) for the privilege. It weighs 791 grams with 1.74 pounds of Burger King beef. GROSS!!!

At the same time, Apple has also recently announced brand new MacBook, Mac Mini and a new mouse. As a reaction to the launch of the Windows 7, they released a TV commercial campaign called “Broken Promises”.

Personally, I think Apple is running out of ideas or reaction to Windows. This is the same debate again and again. Additionally, I am not going to debate about which is best (Apple vs Windows) because everyone knows I am a Microsoft fanboy. So, spare me the comments.
I am awaiting for the shipped version of my Windows 7 upgrade to my work laptop and will be getting the same for my Netbook. Which is the other good news. Windows 7 will be providing USB bootable Windows 7 thumbdrives for Netbook users.
In conclusion, I’m super excited to get my copy soon. Are you?
