Nokia Lumia 925 Launched in Malaysia

My first Windows Phone 8 review was just recently, with the Nokia Lumia 920. Although I really admire Nokia’s consistency in producing excellent build quality in their devices, the underlying OS of Windows Phone 8 still has some ways to go in terms of app selection, navigation and integration with external services.

Continuing on with their dedication to the Windows Phone 8 marketplace, Nokia revealed yet another amazing build of a smartphone with the Nokia Lumia 925.

The Nokia Lumia 925 has a (in my opinion) a more premium design and outlook and packed in some amazing lens technology advancement. In my Nokia Lumia 920 review, I already pointed out how amazed I was with their camera technology and amazing low light photography performance. Well, Nokia has improved on that some more and this new Lumia 925 has some even more amazing camera! If that’s even possible.

The Lumia 925 introduces an aluminium frame wrapped around a polycarbonate body. So, in terms of build quality, it feels premium and not plasticky like the previous Lumia series smartphones. While the guts are very similar to the slightly older Nokia Lumia 920, the phone has improved lens, camera function and display.

Amazing low light photography with Lumia 925

The Lumia 925 is the Nokia Windows Phone 8 that many have been waiting for. Well, at least I was excited. The Lumia 925 has some interesting features, which includes:-

  • Low Light Photography – with award winning PureView technology and Carl Zeiss lens with Optical Image Stabilisation
  • Nokia Smart Camera – takes 10 burst shots of pictures, then select the best one (ala Samsung’s Best Photo/HTC Zoe)
    • Action Shot – stitch a series of pictures into one shot of actions (ala Samsung’s Action Shot as well)
    • Remove moving object – magically erase objects or people walking into your shot (ala Samsung’s Eraser)
    • Change Faces – select the right face that’s smiling and not blinking to craft your perfect frame (ala Samsung’s Best Face)
  • Other features – Microsoft Office, Nokia Music, Nokia HERE Maps and more
  • Qi Wireless Charging
  • New “Amber” software upgrade – better app support, Nokia Smart Camera, longer battery life, etc (will also be available for existing Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices)

Nokia and MDeC has also collaborated to encourage more local app development for Windows Phone 8 under the “MSC Malaysia Integrated Content Decelopment (ICON)” program. Out of this initiative, they’ve awarded 3 local apps which will be featured in the “Nokia Apps Highlights” under the “MDeC ICON Applications” section.

The 3 apps highlighted includes “SmartShopper“, “Phaze” and “2013 FIA Formula One” apps.

I can’t stress how impressed I am with the Nokia Lumia series low light photography capabilities. I am excited to (hopefully) be able to take the Nokia Lumia 925 a whirl and test the new and improved camera technology.

  1. Hi, just wondering. Is it true that certain popular apps for wp8 like whataspp, line are causing too much problems to the users? common ones are error push notifications, freezing. I’m thinking to buy 925 but considering those problems..

    1. My review of Lumia 925 is coming up soon. I have been using WhatsApp on that phone & noticed some minor errors with push notifications sometimes, yes. But I check WhatsApp very often. So, I don’t miss messages.
